I like a procedural mystery with stylish characters, and maybe this can be my new one now that I've finished Elementary. Also, that blue plaid blazer is amazing!
Ooh yes if you liked Elementary, I think you’d like this one for the tone and the cast dynamics, too. It’s also very funny and sweet in moments, especially the 3rd season. The costumes are excellent though out!
Another brilliant interview, Fawnia – yet to catch this but fascinating to read about the stories behind the clothing choices. That (super-stylish) canine scene stealer though! 🐶 And now I totally have Starship in my head. 😂
Thank you! The show can get a bit dark but they perfectly mix in moments of levity and lightness with the case dynamic and the costumes (and Betty!). Maybe you could watch it! lol
This makes me so happy. I love Ramón Rodriguez. I have been a huge Karin Slaughter fan for about 2 decades. I keep a strong divide between Will the book and Will the telly character. It gets confusing otherwise!
I am not surprised the suits are bespoke! I love the costumes and I always notice the pops of colour on Iantha. She and Sonja are stunning!
He’s so great and I love how he’s shouting out the crew on his IG, too. I haven’t read the books but have always been curious how the TV portrayals differ/are similar. I feel like all the actors are so perfect for their characters tho!
Makes so much sense since Will is very meticulous. I love that? And yes Iantha and Sonja are so commanding (and fun) in their costumes!
It's hard to compare the two honestly! It's the same fastidious nature and beautiful Betty and character background. I absolutely love Ramón's Will. I wouldn't want anyone else being TV Will. Book Will is completely different. We really are seeing a different Will because it's much later in his life. I mean assuming he's early 30s here the book Will we meet ...idk. I don't know if it is later in age. It is hard to explain?? It's the same base ingredients but completely different. Like cake mix? It can be turned into any of all cakes. But chocolate and devil's food are still different chocolate cakes!
I wish I had better words. In the books Will comes into a story that had been established over 8-12 books (I cannot remember how many in the original series). We meet him and his big thing is how different he is to a former male character that was also very important. He ends up blending perfectly (ofc bc Karin Slaughter knows what she is doing) but he's coming into a different pre=established world. We aren't going into his world.
The books are great but you have to be willing to stomach graphic crime. It isn't as bad as Game of Thrones but it doesn't hold back anything and can be upsetting! I'm a die hard crime fiction fan. She wrote a new series (separate from Will Trent) and I haven't had time to make it more than a couple chapters in...it's top of my queue!
That’s super interesting and Ramon just fully and perfectly inhabits Will. The show can also be so dark and sad but really walks the balance with the levity and endearing cast chemistry too. It does sound very different from the books and a good adaptation for TV. Oh interesting what’s the new series?
I love Will Trent, but I watch in between High Potential and The Rookie because it can be really heavy. I would really love Gina Rodriguez to come back, as she and Will had great chemistry. Faith and Amanda have, by far, the best outfits on the show.
I like High Potential, too (also fun costumes!). I enjoyed him and Gina, too, especially for the like 4-ish episodes with more lightness too. Faith has the best sweater game on TV!
watching Season 4 Episode 4 right know and I feel deeply and happily informed about one of my absolute fave shows.
Yay and thank you for reading! I really hope the archery girls come back this season.
I don't watch the show, but damn that dog is cute! And yes, three snaps! for bespoke (or at least really well-tailored) suits!
Fabulous as always, thank you, Fawnia!
Thank you as always for reading and I feel like you’d like the show. You’d at least appreciate the costumes! Oh and cat fashion inspo?

Nothing’s going to stop me now! (Sorry! 🫢) Well, it might, because you know me! 😬

Ooh I love Will Trent - thanks for featuring the costume design! So on point!
Thank you for reading! Love meeting another fan of the show and the costumes!

Yes, excellent sweaters.
