My uncle collected Hummels, the original-probably not- sure shot collectible.

Thank you for reading! I loved this one by Cheryl, too

Oh my God, Lois Duncan! When she died a few years ago, I reread all of my lowest Duncan novels, and I mean all of them. I let go of all of them, except for “Stranger With My Face” and “Killing Mr. Griffin.”

I didn’t realize or maybe forgot that she wrote I Know What You Did Last Summer, too! I admit, I had to ask a friend (who read the same YA) what the Fear Street poster reminded me of and she remembered right away. It was impressive. A real throwback!!

Omg metal lunch boxes!!! I had a carebears one with matching thermos (hand me down from my older sister) and I remember busting it back out in middle school during the "rave purse" era! Totally forgot about it until now ❤️❤️❤️ and my cabbage patch kid was a bald baby!

Care Bears!!! (When I saw all the lunchboxes, they gave me such a visceral response)

Somewhat adjacent to this, cassettes are hot again. I'm starting to see prices creeping up. I always check them when I'm checking vinyl prices, which are still high and I'd like to see them drop.

I wrote about that a few months ago! It’s fascinating to me

I had a metal Muppets lunchbox and later a blue plastic Smurfs one.

Cheryl Wischhover's avatar

I think Smurfs are having a minor comeback. I feel like I see them online here and there

I too had the Holly Hobbie lunchbox! And now I must brag about owning a My So-Called Life lunchbox (from the original DVD release) that has pride of place on our foyer console for my odds and ends.

Fawnia Soo Hoo's avatar

I also had that Holly Hobbie lunchbox and not sure why! My mom must have been like everyone else has one. You made me realize that lunchboxes are fun swag/merch! I have an Asteroid City one from a screening and I store my nail polishes in it 😁

I’m honestly not sure why I had it either since I was way more of a Strawberry Shortcake girl!

Fawnia Soo Hoo's avatar

I used to have all those too! I can conjure the scent 🍓

Cheryl Wischhover's avatar

My sister was obsessed with strawberry shortcake. I can still smell that plasticky fruit scent

I need the full 8 part documentary on how the heck Holly Hobbie got so popular. And wow that MSCL lunchbox must be rare! What’s the image on it?

Casey Barber's avatar

I’ll post it in Notes so you can see its glory!

This was so fun! And reading this made me recall I had a Cabbage Patch Kids lunchbox -- and board game (!).

Cheryl Wischhover's avatar

I actually remember how difficult it was for my parents to find one for my sister (and thank you!)

I obviously need to search the attic for my Garbage Pail Kids.

I am now kicking myself for letting my mom sell mine at a garage sale 30+ years ago 🤦‍♀️

It felt like there were so many of them. Who knew!! I had a bunch of Star Wars cards from the first movie. No idea where they ended up

Loved this!! (And one woman’s late 70s Wonder Woman doll is another’s late 70s Jamie Summers Bionic Woman one, with red mission purse… 💥❤️

Cheryl Wischhover's avatar

Omg my neighbor had her!!!!

😯!! She was much cooler than my Sindy.
