Always love your deep dives into clothing design as storytelling! And I kind of would love a spinoff newsletter called "Kea-news" :)

Stellar reporting as ever!! 🤩 Have seen the trailers, and might possibly see this before I get around to seeing Bridget Jones – don’t ask! 😂🫠 (did you catch Kate on Graham Norton? And SAY ANYTHING!! Sigh.) 🩷

I so enjoyed this topic. I liked all of it and particularly the background on pink power suits. I’m Gen X by a few years like Hudson and there was something so empowering about the Barbie pink and wearing my femininity out loud (pink blouse) at the screening of the film. It’s not a color I gravitate to but was fun to embrace it. Colors bring out different parts of your personality as I’ve come to realize!

Thank you for reading, too, and glad you got something out of it! I freelance now but I remember in my former boring career, it was discouraged to wear anything remotely fashion-y, or mildly self-expressive which is so oppressive! Like I feel more confident and do better work when I’m wearing something that makes me happy, like a pink suit.

Oh yes, I too, recall those corporate days :)

We could trade notes. I recall a moment early in my career when I was told my clothing was too distracting for the male members of the firm. I've never been one to be too rebellious in my fashion choices, so this especially enraged me.

Sooooo infuriating and sexist. Like the men could be as sloppy as they wanted, too. The women in my office were also very unsupportive, I remember. More pink suits!!!
