SO interesting comparing notes on which '80s shows we also got here in the UK (Magnum! Moonlighting! Charlie's Angels (but the first time around!! 😂 ) Love this, and 100% re comfort factor (although, I am DEVASTATED to discover that Hart 2 Hart was a 70s show (last episode 1979!! 😭🫠). XXXX

Omg!! Thank you for pointing that out (and reading!!) and I realized I confused Hart to Hart with Simon and Simon. Apparently I think Robert Wagner and Gerald McRaney are the same person. I need to make a correction. Ugh these fact-checkers over here! (Me😬)

Oh my goodness, not at all, I had no idea and just had to google Gerald McRaney! 😅 (I may or may not also have a still-shrink wrapped DVD collection of Hart 2 Hart somewhere!! 🙊🤣) XXX

I saw your note just as I woke up and if you could have witnessed the panic realization and then frantic IMDb searches. But so glad you caught it! Gerald was also the nice doctor in This Is Us and looks nothing like Wagner but my confused childhood memories!😂

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Will Trent, Pokerface and Matlock (can't wait for the season finale tonight). Cozy shows are my jam, old or not. Can I give a shout out to Will Trent's title sequences? This past GH one was chef's kiss.

You have excellent taste in TV! Omg yes, Will Trent’s title sequences are so clever and I was just dying at all the General Hospital lines about Lila Quartermaine. The pop culture references this season have been 🔥

I watched the first season of Poker Face a while back. It felt like it was an homage to the early aughts USA shows like Psych and Monk which always felt like they had 80's detective show DNA.

Poker Face was a lot of fun and so clever. Oh so interesting you say that about USA aughts shows because I did greatly enjoy Burn Notice. Now I realize I probably liked it because it was very ‘80s (and set in Miami). Did you watch the recent Monk?

I did not see the recent Monk, I only watched that one occasionally. Psych and Burn Notice were my favorites. And I think there was one about a doctor in the Hamptons or something like that. It wasn’t a detective show but it was always on around the same time as the other ones.

Royal Pains, I think?

“You know spies, buncha bitchy little girls…” We loved Burn Notice.

The shows on USA were so underrated. I absolutely loved Royal Pains. And we watched every episode of Psych. Ghee Buttersnaps and Control Alt Delete.

Omg that line! That show was so fun and kind of A-Team-y too right? I just looked in IMDb and costume designer Danny Santiago co-designs And Just Like That! Royal Pains was fun, too. I should check out Psych!

Psych is worth it. Dule Hill and James Roday make a great duo. The entire ensemble is great. It’s silly but it has really touching moments. Corbin Bernsen plays his dad and, in what was a HUGE surprise, Cybil Shepherd plays his mom. The whole series is a love song to the 80s. All sorts of icons show up - Cary Elwes, Tears for Fears, Boys II Men.

Thank you for this, as always—dropping gems all over the stacks! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to dust off my parents’ complete Remington Steele DVD collection. (Yes, it’s 2025. Yes, I proudly own a Blu-ray player. Physical media forever.)

Also, with Easter around the corner, a friend reminded me: “Get ready—Enrico shows up every year dressed like he’s on Miami Vice.” Pastels, white blazer, zero shame. They’re not wrong.

I did think of you when I was writing this! Thank you for reading ❤️ Omg I want to revisit Remington Steele and I had to dig an old DVD player out of storage last year to watch the Miami Vice box set so I’m right there with you. Please post a pic of the Easter pastel suit. I mean they are legit fashion right now (and always in my book)!

The Rookie is also a solid, crime solving plus levity (most of the time) show.

I am on episode 12 of High Potential as of last night. Up to date on the rest of those shows. Can’t wait to see how Matlock plays out!!!

I 100% want Elsbeth’s wardrobe, minus all the bags she carries around, and Morgan’s coats on HP. 😍😍😍😍

Doc Odd makes me laugh - harkens back to the old Love Boat days, plus a throuple. Pretty sure they never did THAT on the Love Boat.

Will Trent is so good and so heartbreaking! We watch it, then the Rookie to lighten the mood.

Oh good to know about The Rookie! I used to love Castle. And yeah that would be a good pick me up after Will! Same re: Matlock since they keep ending on cliffhangers! I really love the dynamic amongst the cast, too. Elsbeth and Morgan could share a furry coat wardrobe, right? I think their clothes are so much fun and Elsbeth’s bags make me lol so much. They’re apparently her portable filing system. (I have a story in the works on that, too…) omg yes because I loved The Love Boat too and the throuple mystery is a popular one for writers!! Thank you for reading ❤️🕵️

Oh my god. I mean he’s a handsome man but I don’t think he’s ever looked so hot! Lol maybe also because he’s always playing the villain lately, so it was a nice change to see him doing a Scottish “Once.”

So glad I gave up on AJLT after the first season. Even the clothes look bad. Charlotte in gingham and a visor? Her friend with bangs and a terrible bob? That one shot of Carrie and Adian where it looks distorted because she's teeny and he's tall? I exist with screenshots sent from a friend and Twitter chatter and that's more than enough.

I have to watch it for work so am anxiously awaiting season 3! I do enjoy the fantastical aspect of the costumes though, like of course it’s not realistic most of the time but I appreciate the big swings like Carrie’s Moncler puffer ball gown ☃️
